A candle holder is one of those objects that are easy to integrate into your home decor, yet it has such a cozy effect in a space. Combine them on the table with flowers and other decorations, or use them for a cozy touch on the window sill.
I compiled a list of my favorite metal candle holders below. The list includes some that I own myself or other designs that have long been on my wishlist. I find candle holders in metal such a great choice as they tend to reflect the light coming from the candles and they are timeless and can be used on any occasion.
I usually find metal candle holders, whether brass, or silver painted, look best with white candles, or any natural colors like beige or grey so that the candles themselves don’t take away too much attention from the intricate shapes and the beautifully shaped metal.
An organic silver-plated solid brass candle holder from Arket
These beautiful cloud-shaped candle holders (€ 59 a piece*) are made out of solid recycled brass with a silver coat and I love them combined in a set. The candles seem to sprout out of the organic shape.
Glow tealight holder designed by Amanda Lilholt for Applicata
Molekyl designed by Michael Rem for Gejst
The Molekyl candle holder designed by Michael Tem for Gejst (€ 54*) consists of a central metal pillar that holds the candle and is magnetic. The many small steel balls are naturally attracted to the center in any way you like. You can add different Molekyls together as well and create a candle holder with multiple candles.
Balance candle holder from Ferm Living
The geometrical shapes of the Balance candle holder (€ 29* – $49*) by Ferm Living are both sculptural and functional and the pillar combined with the arch and the counter-weighted ball can be carried around.
Duca candle holder designed by Kroyer Saetter Lassen for Menu
The Duca candle holder (€59* – $68.95*) designed by Kroyer Saetter Lassen for Menu can be extended (Duca is Latin for ‘extend’) by loosening the screw so the height of the candle holder can be adjusted as the candle burns. It’s a modern version of the antique adjustable candle holder you can find in old homes.
HAY Arcs candle holder
The Arcs collection is designed by the Belgian duo Muller Van Severen for HAY and just like the rest of the pieces in the collection, the candle holder is created out of a unified chain of vertical arcs that create a scalloped silhouette. The design is available in a variety of different finishes and sizes for regular candles (from € 32* – from $50.70*).
Drip designed by Pascal Smelik for Pols Potten
The Drip candle Holder (€ 59 for the small version*, €99 for the medium version*) designed by Pascal Smelik for Pols Potten is inspired by the designers’ fascination with deformity. I think the shape becomes even more beautiful over time when the candle wax starts to drip over the candle holder.
Kubus micro by Bylassen
I think we all know the iconic Kubus candle holder designed by Mogens Lassen in 1962. The Kubus micro is a micro version of this design for a small candle, with the exact same mathematical geometry as the original Kubus candle holder.
The different Kubus micros are a perfect table setting decoration when combined together and are available in black, silver, and gold (from € 48*– from $55.80*). I can imagine these combined on a beautiful wedding table where the candles add a cozy light to the venue. That is if you’re looking for minimal and modern wedding decor of course.
Iittala Nappula candle holder designed by Matti Klenell
Nappula is the Finnish word for button and describes the soft, round forms that can be found in the candle holder (from €33*– from $36.45*), an influence of Matti Klenell’s fascination for vintage and contemporary details. The design comes in a variety of colors and materials and looks great on its own in a special place or combined together for multiple candles.
Ildhane candle holder designed by Anderssen & Voll for Nedre Foss
The Ildhane candle holder (€79* – $80.15*) is designed by Anderssen & Voll for Nedre Foss and has an expressive form that reminds of a bird with a beautiful tale. The design is not only perfect for holding your candles, but it also adds a sculptural element to any home or interior setting.
Skultuna Lily candlestick designed by Ivar Ålenius Björk
The lily candlestick (€98 – $99.40*) is one of these classic designs that you can see in so many Scandinavian homes. The Swedish sculptor Ivar Ålenius Björk designed this iconic piece for the world fair in New York in 1939. I love the way the design surrounds the candles.
The simple form resembles the arched shape of lilies petals and is made out of polished brass. This is one of those designs that has been on my wishlist for my home as well and I would love to add it to my collection.
